CLIENT: Fairway Investments
As the project manager for BB+M Architecture, we collaborated with Fairway Investments to transform Birkdale Landing, a suburban retail center in Huntersville, NC. This redevelopment involved a comprehensive revitalization: renovating two existing retail buildings, constructing two new single-story retail shell structures, and introducing a 28,000-square-foot, two-story office building that anchors the west end of the site.
Beyond the building renovations, the project redefined the site’s community experience with the addition of three thoughtfully designed outdoor spaces. These plazas serve as vibrant hubs for retail tenants, while providing inviting gathering areas for office occupants and the surrounding neighborhood.
Key features of this adaptive reuse and mixed-use development include modern exterior detailing, such as exposed steel connections and canopies, a refined contemporary color palette with updated stone cladding and faux wood accents, and strategically designed exterior spaces that bring energy and connectivity to the center. The result is a vibrant suburban destination that seamlessly integrates retail, office, and communal engagement.
